You’re looking for the best vacuum under 100 dollars, but you don’t want something cheap that won’t do the job.  You’re in luck.  Just because you’re on a budget doesn’t mean you can’t find aBest Vacuum Under 100 BISSELL CleanView 9595A Upright Vacuum Side View great vacuum under 100 dollars.  In fact, the best vacuum under 100 dollars may be one of the best vacuums out there.

What should you look for in a budget vacuum cleaner?

When it comes to power, it’s all about the Amps and Watts.  The higher the Amps or Watts rating of a vacuum, the more powerful the vacuum and usually the more powerful the suction.  The maximum Amps a home appliance that plugs into a standard wall outlet can use, is 12 Amps.  Some vacuums may be rated in Watts which is related to Amps by Volts.  Multiply the Amps by 120 volts to get the Watts.  For instance, at the maximum, a vacuum can draw 12 Amps x 120 volts or about 1,440 Watts.  Unfortunately, Amp rating and Watts rating are not directly comparable because of how manufacturers rate their vacuums, but they should be close enough in most cases to make a comparison.  The best vacuum under 100 dollars for you will have the highest Amp or Watts rating for the money.

Suction Power

There are two primary ratings that manufacturers usually publish for their vacuums that can be helpful in comparing them.  First, is airflow which, if you can find it, is a great way to compare vacuums.  It measures airflow through the vacuum in cubic feet per minute (CFM).  The more airflow, the better the vacuum power.  Look for a CFM rating over 100.

Second is water lift.  If you’re looking for a HEPA vacuum cleaner, this would be a good rating to compare.  It measures how many inches the motor will lift a 1-inch column of water.  It is a good rating to compare how well a vacuum cleaner deals with resistance in the air path like filters.  Look for a water lift over 90 inches.

Best Vacuum Under 100 BISSELL CleanView 9595A Upright Vacuum Emptying ViewBagged or Bagless

It seems that bagless models have taken over the marketplace propelled by Dyson which pioneered the segment.  The reality is that some of the best vacuum cleaners in the world besides a Dyson vacuum use vacuum bags very successfully and have been using them for many years.  So which should you choose?  Whichever model is available that gives you the power, suction power, and value you want.

Don’t get hung up on bags or no bags.  It’s true that you have to buy bags periodically and that costs additional money, but some of the other raps on bags are pretty much unfounded.

Our family has had a Dyson, but this is probably true of other bagless vacuums as well.  You can throw away a vacuum bag in the home garbage inside your home, but you would never want to empty the dust bins of bagless vacuum cleaners inside the home.   I found that even emptying the bin outside in the main garbage could cause you to get covered with dust depending on the wind.  If you do the same thing inside, the dust is likely to get out of the garbage can.

In other words, dust bins are not easier to empty than bags.

HEPA is all the rage, but there is something you should keep in mind when buying a HEPA vacuum.  There are vacuums out there claiming to be HEPA that don’t filter all the air that leaves the vacuum.  Part of the airflow of the vacuum cleaner escapes without filtering.  This pretty much defeats the purpose of the HEPA filter.

When purchasing a HEPA vacuum, make sure that the vacuum is sealed and all of the airflow through the vacuum is filtered so that no unfiltered air leaks back into the room.

We think we found a great vacuum that has a top rating for under $100.  Take a look and see if this is the best vacuum cleaner for your needs!
